The Great Temple at Abu Simbel

 The Great Temple at Abu Simbel was my next location to visit and it was the greatest achievement of Pharaoh Ramses II. It is a temple dedicated to Amun, Ra-Harmachis, and Ptah, Gods in ancient Egypt. There were gigantic statues of each of them in the front of this temple and twice a year, the rising sun shines through the entrance and directly illuminates three of them, while the god of the underworld remains in shadow. It was massive; its length is 185 feet, its height is 90 feet, and the four statues of the Gods are 60 feet high. It is such a beautiful piece of work and shows how smart the Egyptians were to create such a thing.
